Welcome to week 18! Or is it technically week 19 since I'm 18+? However you want to look at it, haha, we're here!
In the past two weeks, I have definitely gained my appetite back, which is a welcomed stranger! Of course, that comes with some weight gain, but I'm okay with that. So far, I'm up 7.5lbs. I think that's pretty average for my pre-pregnancy weight/height. I've been forcing the H2O down. NOT a big fan, so I literally chug 20oz with meds in the a.m. or after breakfast, then again around lunch time, and then before bed. In-between, I've been really loving Vitamin Water. I also splurge on Sprite (even tho it's carbonated, it tends to be okay now). I've been doing well with avoiding caffeine...mostly because it upsets my stomach. I do however have a sip if I have a headache. That usually cuts the headache, and I don't need to use Tylenol. (Doc advised this trick).
It seems like just about every 2 weeks, baby has a growth spurt. I have been having some pretty awesome
round ligament pains. In the morning, I typically stretch by habit before getting out of bed. That is when I notice them the most...really, any quick movement I make like sitting up quickly or stretching typically triggers it. I don't remember having this with the boys, but B said I did. He remembers things much better than I do. I think there's a reason for that! ;-)
This has become a routine midnight snack:

Yep, the heartburn's here!! I enjoyed it with both of the boys as well. I attribute that to my incredibly short waistline. All of that stuff has to go somewhere to make room for baby, why not shift *up*?! Haha! Anyway, I call it heartburn but it's probably more like acid reflux. I think when you wake up choking on stomach acid, it's a little bit more than *just* heartburn, right? *yuk*
Today, we had an ultrasound. I guess, the technical term is "the anatomy scan"...they check the spine, heart, kidneys, brain, etc, etc. Basically, the purpose of this scan is to make sure that all major organs are okay, and they can also check for some genetic defects as well. At this point, gender can also be determined in most cases. We opted to not find out the gender of our sweet little guy/gal this time around. Not to worry, though, we'll definitely be finding out in another 4.5 months or so! ;-)
Everything looked great! Baby's heart rate was 164, and he/she is measuring right at 8oz. (For those of you wondering, average weight for this point is between 6.7-8.47 oz.) Urine and BP looked good today as well. We'll have another u/s at 26 weeks to make sure babe is growing on track, and I'll continue to have urine and BP checks every 2 weeks.
We got some awful precious pictures today:
