Week 26 :-)

On Monday, we hit the 26th week mark of this pregnancy! :-)

This is how I spent my weekend:

Remember my last post about having the stomach flu, and everyone else seemingly dodging that bullet?! HA! I spoke waaaaay too soon! Needless to say, B (knock on wood) escaped the pukies, and he was the only person!  As a matter of fact, I just finished up my second round.  Hopefully now that my house is 99.9% germ free, we'll all stay healthy for a while.

So, with that, here are my 26 week fun facts:

This week, baby is the size of a: Cucumber!
How far along? 26 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: As of Monday, 13.5lb gain according to my scale
Sleep: Things are definitely shifting around. My hips are starting to get sore when I lay on either side for too long, so I've been resorting to sleeping with a TON of pillows! I also wake up to pee at least twice a night. I think I'm gearing up for those midnight feedings!!! :-)
Best moment this week: Baby *finally* saying "hello" to Daddy. :-)
Movement: Lots of movement...I've been feeling hiccups, even, up high by my right ribs.
Food cravings: Last week I was craving Oreos and Cookies & Cream shakes, although I've lost my appetite since having the flu and nothing in particular sounds amazing. :-(
Symptoms: Nothing too out of the ordinary. Newest symptom is rib pain from everything shifting up. (This is where a long torso would be super-fabulous, genes!)
Belly Button in or out? It's starting to become a little flat.
Feeling toward Pregnancy: Bittersweet :-)
What I miss: Running! Spring is here, and everyone's getting their fitness on. I am really itching to get back into my running shoes. :-) Levi was trying to help me out the other night by riding his 4-wheeler down to the end of our lane (that ends in a busy, busy road), so I had to sprint (run-waddle real fast) to catch him in time. Yeah, running + big belly = lower tummy pain and cramping. :-(
Milestones: As mentioned above, baby kicked for B...finally. :-)

Yesterday, I attended a breastfeeding class. I know, this is my 3rd child, I should know how to do this by now. Well, I don't! BUT, I've become quite proficient in pumping. :-) Anyway, I'm excited to give nursing a try this time also, and I feel more armed with the information I need to make sure we're successful! I was able to provide milk for Levi until 6 months, and hope to reach the 1-year mark this time around. If not, I won't beat myself up, but at least I have a goal in mind, right?! :-)

Today, we had our first growth scan. (It's just an ultrasound to check baby's size.) I'll continue having them every 3 weeks to make sure baby is growing on track. Due to my BP issues (and being on a beta blocker for that), it's important to see that baby is getting proper blood flow by monitoring growth.

So, the details:
  • Baby weighs 1lb 13oz (40th percentile)
  • Fluid levels look good, although they don't actually measure them until 3rd Trimester
  • Cervix is long and closed
  • Baby is breech...head up and to the right, butt down. :-)  Plenty of time to move, though.
All-in-all, great appointment!  I'll go back in 2 weeks for my routine checks, and in 3 weeks for another growth scan.

Here are a few pictures from today.  In the 3rd picture down, that's a foot that's up by baby's face!  In most others, the hand is up there, including the 1st where baby has its hand across its eye. :-)

Baby's gender is still under wraps. :-) For fun, I asked one of my good friends, Lauren, who owns Chubby Cheeks Boutique, to make some onesies for baby's birthday. She, of course, did an *AWESOME* job, and I'm so excited to see which onesie baby will debut. :-)

Here are a couple of baby bump pictures...I figured I might as well throw in both, since most of my shots are headless. :-)

{25 weeks}

{26 weeks}

And, we did have a little addition to the nursery this week:

I've also been picking up a few pieces for the walls here and there. Can't wait to put everything together!

The Boys' New Room!

As I promised in a previous post, here are some pictures of the boys' new room!! Both of the boys have a love for dinosaurs (what kid doesn't...seriously?!), so I decided to go with that theme. I purchased the bedding from Pottery Barn...the quilt is actually very warm, contrary to what some of the reviews say. It is pretty dense and cozy. :-)

{Boys' "newborn" pics. The pic in the middle is a super-cute photo of them together last Fall.}

{View from window}

{Bunk beds}

{Super-cool Dinosaur hamper :-)}

{Reading nook...favorite part of room!}

Excuse the (wrong) date stamp and picture quality. Certain little hands got ahold of my camera, and changed the settings. Still working on getting them back to "normal" again!

Not to mention any names...

{Distorted face (kissing the camera?!), snotty nose, and all! BUSTED!}

The Big Birthday Bash!

Luke's Birthday pretty much lasted from Thursday (his Birthday) through Sunday. :-) He had been anticipating his big day for weeks beforehand, and he even asked each day the week of the big event if "today was his Burffday, yet".

On Thursday, Luke started his day off with breakfast at Bullshipper's with Grandpa Sparks. The Ladies just *love* Luke so much...it's so sweet. :-) Lisa, Luke's favorite waitress, brought him a warm cinnamon roll with a little candle. You should have seen his face light up when he got to blow the candle out! It was priceless!!

While Luke was eating with Grandpa, I took some cupcakes (and bananas for the kiddos who aren't fans of sweets ---Do they even exist, you ask? Yes, they do!) in for Luke's class. Since Saturday was St Patty's Day, I made rainbow cupcakes with little mini shamrock sprinkles and a pot of gold on top. I seriously *loved* the sprinkles! The cupcake liners were gold foil.

Luke got to wear a special "Birthday Boy" crown during Preschool. :-) We went to The Dog Shed for lunch after school, where he got a special Birthday cookie. (Yes, he was *loaded* with sugar by this point, but...it waaaaas his Birthday!)

{C'mon Mom! Take the pic already so I can finish this cookie!!}

Thursday evening, Brad and I took the boys out to dinner, and we gave Luke his birthday present from us: a Spiderman bike and helmet. :-)

Sunday, we had a family party for Luke at Pizza Quik...a local pizza joint that is like a waaaaay scaled-down version of Chuck E Cheese's. The boys had so much fun playing the games and collecting tickets. I think overall, everyone had a great time!

Great times, celebrating our Luke!

Bringer of Light

The name Luke is derived from the ancient Greek meaning, 'Light'.

Although we had Luke’s name picked out for him before his birth, we had no idea just how much he would live up to his name! As first-time parents, B and I were very naïve in thinking that we would have a perfect, full-term pregnancy with zero complications resulting in a cute little butterball (we were each 8+ lbs). We had never known anyone to have an experience any different than that. Luke opened our eyes to just how precious (and unpredictable) life is. He gave us a whole new appreciation for our new role as parents, and taught us straight-away not to take anything for granted and to live each day to its fullest.

Today, Luke turns 4 years old. He was born at 4:42pm on a Saturday afternoon on my Aunt Deb’s Birthday. She was happy to have a Birthday Buddy. :-) Over the past 4 years, Luke has blessed us with his shining personality. He is such an amazing, sweet little boy, and we are so lucky to be his parents. Since I’m a firm believer that pictures speak a thousand words...

Happy 4th Birthday, Luke! Daddy and I are *so* proud of you, and we love you more than words could ever say!

On the day that we met
and I put you to bed
I noticed a crown
on the top of your head.

It was made up of sparkling,
glimmering things
Like moonlight, and fireflies,
and dragonfly wings.

I always knew
just what your crown meant.
It said that you were
magnificent.
